datumRX Partners with American Legacy Foundation

Preferred alliance provides public service announcements
on medical transcripts to encourage patients to quit smoking

Santa Cruz, California (June 23, 2009) – datumRX, a California-based firm that offers state-of-the-art and niche advertising opportunities to healthcare companies, announced it has entered into an exclusive partnership with EX® to attach valuable ‘quit smoking’ information to targeted medical transcriptions identified by keywords related to smoking.  EX is a free quit smoking program developed by the American Legacy Foundation® and supported by the National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation, which can be found at www.BecomeAnEX.org.

“datumRX realizes the challenges many smokers have when quitting and wanted to do something about it,” stated Matt Paulsen, spokesperson for datumRX.  “Through partnerships with leading medical transcription companies, we are able to attach EX messaging to the bottom of medical transcripts for patients exhibiting typical smoker symptoms. Additionally, a full-page informational sheet with valuable information about EX and the free EX Web site, BecomeAnEX.org, will be attached to each transcript, for the medical professional to reference when speaking to their smoking patients.”

datumRX firmly believes that doctors and other medical professionals must rely on timely and appropriate information in order to provide the best and most effective care to their patients. In keeping with this strategy and, at the same time, assisting a commendable non-profit organization, datumRX is providing this service to the American Legacy Foundation and its partners in the National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation in support of their efforts to provide physicians with an evidence-based resource to assist patients in quitting smoking.

“datumRX’s philanthropic initiative will help facilitate the work that thousands of doctors perform on a daily basis, as well as allow them to provide their patients with information on how to re-learn their lives without cigarettes,” stated Cheryl G Healton, PhD, CEO and President of the American Legacy Foundation.  “Studies show that a brief one- to three-minute intervention from a healthcare professional can significantly increase the chances that someone will quit smoking successfully.  By attaching important EX quitting information to appropriate medical transcripts, we’re arming doctors with tools to help them when talking to their patients about quitting smoking.”
