What is datumRx®?
datumRx® is a California-based firm that offers advertising opportunities to pharmaceutical companies through a network of medical service companies. Since people occasionally have questions about what datumRx® does, we have prepared these FAQs to answer the most frequently asked questions.

How does datumRx® serve ads?

datumRx® serves ads on a keyword basis. This means that an ad is inserted based on a certain keyword that may appear in a document. Personal Health Information is not used to serve ads. Nor is it provided to advertisers.

How does datumRx® deliver ads to a doctor?
datumRx® has two methods of delivering ads to a doctor:
- Via the voice greeting: when the doctor calls in to leave a dictation, datumRx® serves an audio ad before the doctor begins dictating
-Via the transcript: the ad is inserted onto the completed medical transcript.

Does datumRx® use cookies, web beacons, clear GIF’s, information from a web browser or ad tags from a web browser to serve ads?
No.

Does datumRx® use a patient’s Personal Health Information to serve ads?
No.

Does datumRx® provide Personal Health Information to advertisers?
No.

What does datumRx® do with the patient data?
The datumRx® advertising platform does not store patient data. The ads are inserted strictly on a keyword basis.

What does datumRx® do with doctor data?
In certain instances we may use doctors’ prior or aggregated prescription history to ensure that the ads we serve are as relevant as possible. This information is not correlated or stored with a patient’s personal health information.

What information does the datumRx® technology store about the doctor that views a datumRx® served ad?
datumRx® saves information about the ads it delivers in log files. The information stored in datumRx® log files include information about what ads have been served in the past to a given doctor. The log files are kept by datumRx® for auditing and fraud detection purposes.

datumRx® also stores aggregated ad delivery reporting data on our servers. This data comprises the reports we provide to our advertising and publisher clients for campaign reporting and billing purposes.

What if a doctor doesn’t want to view ads?
Doctors may opt out at any time by contacting help@datumrx.com.

What information does datumRx® share with third parties?
Some datumRx® clients may receive from us copies of log files relating to their advertising information. These clients may, for example, use this information to analyze campaign effectiveness. Each client is contractually bound to use any information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

datumRx® may transfer the information it collects on the datumRx® site to any successor in interest to datumRx® (such as a company that acquires datumRx®), or internally to one or more affiliates (such as a corporate subsidiary or parent). datumRx® may also disclose information if it determines that an applicable law, regulation or legal process requires it, or if datumRx® determines that it needs to share such information to protect or enforce datumRx® ’s rights or the rights of another user.

Security
datumRx® is a technology vendor to our clients. datumRx® takes available precautions to avoid receiving Personal Health Information from its clients. We also require our network partners to encrypt or scramble the data sent to us in the ad delivery process. Furthermore, we require our clients to comply with applicable HIPAA guidelines and online privacy laws. Due to the architecture of the Internet, however, we cannot completely control the type of information a client may send to datumRx® servers, or prevent a client from sending personally-identifiable information.

datumRx® maintains safeguards to protect the security, integrity and privacy of the information within our control. Even so, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect information, please be advised that datumRx® assumes no responsibility or liability for disclosure of information due to errors in transmission, unauthorized third-party access or other causes beyond datumRx®’s control.
